Two Scholarships Awarded
Ambrosia Grant, Recipient of the Mary Moore Mitchel Scholarship
Congratulations to Ambrosia Grant on being selected as the recipient of the Mary Moore Mitchel Scholarship!
Ambrosia currently teaches 11th and 12th grade English and has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to literature, literacy, and lifelong learning. As an undergraduate at the University of New Orleans, she worked in the Special Collections Department at the Earl K. Long Library, where she developed an appreciation for rare books and archival materials.
Throughout her career as an educator, Ambrosia has curated library collections for underserved Title I schools, sourced culturally relevant literature to help bridge academic gaps, and built her own collection of significant literary works. She has also collaborated with the American Archives and the Louisiana Department of Education and serves on the Education Advisory Council for the National WWII Museum.
These experiences have brought her full circle, reinforcing her passion for rare and used books and for preserving history through literature. As she pursues her Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) with a concentration in Archival Studies, Ambrosia is working toward her dream of opening a bookstore that will serve as a welcoming community space dedicated to preserving cultural artifacts, fostering literacy, and expanding access to knowledge.
Congratulations again, Ambrosia, on this well-deserved achievement. We wish you continued success as you pursue your academic and professional goals.
