LASL (Louisiana Association of School Librarians)

Purpose:
Provides leadership for the school librarian and stimulates personal and professional growth; sponsors continuing education activities and workshops; promotes communication among school librarians and encourages participation in LLA.

Officers:
President; First Vice-President/Chair-Elect; Second Vice-President/First Vice President-Elect; Secretary; Parliamentarian (appointed).

Continuing Education; Handbook; Legislative; Membership; Nominating; Projects; Publicity; School Librarian of the Year Award; Standards; Student Relations; Sue Hefley Educator of the Year Award.

Awards:
Sue Hefley Educator of the Year Award - recognizes the outstanding contributions of non-librarian Louisiana educators to school libraries within Louisiana.

School Library Media Specialist Award - recognizes the outstanding contributions of school librarians within Louisiana.

Publications:
LASL Newsletter, published three times a year, is the official newsletter of the section.

Activities:

  • Sponsors the LASL Author Luncheon that features an author of children's or young adult books at the Annual Conference.
  • LASL Showcase of Achievement provides workshops at the Annual Conference.
